In 2017 Canada will celebrate its 150th anniversary. According to some, it is ranked the second best country in the world to live….yet, so many First Nation, Metis, and Inuit peoples, whose land we call Canada experience profound poverty and unimaginable living conditions. Canadian labourers’ share of production is declining and many of our young people struggle with the burden of debt coupled with a lack of well-paying, full-time work.
GALLERY6500 is hoping that art can help us to hear, see, and feel the alternative history and reality of Canada’s 150 years; from celebrating the victories of grassroots progressive movements, to taking a hard look at current issues, to envisioning other possibilities.
GALLERY6500 invites artists to submit any type of visual art for jury consideration. It must meet technical standards and be in a format that can be shown in a limited space.
Closing date for submissions – October 30, 2016. Grand opening – November 20, 2016.
