Northern Lights Festival Boréal announces lineup ‘teaser’ including Yukon Blonde, Rae Spoon

Organizers are beyond excited to reveal the first glimpse of Sudbury, Ontario’s Northern Lights Festival Boréal’s 46th edition. With a brand new Artistic Director and a ton of BIG plans, the 2017 edition promises to exceed all expectations. The celebration will be held at Bell Park July 7th, 8th, and 9th. It’s with enthusiasm that the founding members of Place des Arts have received the vote of confidence the City Council has extended to the Place des Arts’ construction on December 14th, more than one year after the initiation of the “Major Projects” process launched by the City in the fall of 2015. The City’s financial commitment will reach five million dollars, as well as the transfer of the downtown lot at the corner of Elgin and Larch Streets, a “cultural opportunity site” of the Downtown Master Plan. Cambrian College Graphic Design grad earns industry recognition

An outstanding graduate of Cambrian College’s Graphic Design program has been recognized for excellence in visual communication and design, earning top awards through the RGD Student Awards competition. Neli Nenkova’s winning work was selected by judges from the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) and was featured at the annual DesignThinkers conference held in Toronto in November 2016. Nenkova was recognized with the 50 Carleton Award for Logo Design. In that category, her submission was a redesigned logo for Bulgaria. 2017 NOMFA Submissions Now Open!

Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is pleased to announce the official opening of the submission period for the eleventh Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA). This year, MFM is introducing a smooth new online submission process for bothfilm/television and music award categories. This system will help to simplify the submission process for applicants as well as facilitate the jury process. Thorneloe University to Receive NOHFC Funding for Unique Film and TV Production Workshops

Thorneloe University, federated with Laurentian University, is proud to announce that it will receive a $62,500 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) towards funding unique film and TV production workshops for students enrolled in its Motion Picture Arts (MPArts) curriculum within its Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program. The workshops will be offered over the next five consecutive years, from 2016 to 2020. Chilkoot Trail Artist Residency: Apply Now!
